MARCIANNA "MARCY" BADE
It is with a heavy heart that we must report that Marcianna "Marcy" Richards Bade, 69, of Jeffersonton, and a Club member for almost ten years, passed away Sunday, Feb. 14, 2016, at home. She lived a vibrant life, and many will genuinely miss her.
Born Nov. 21, 1946, in Dunellen, N.J., Marcy grew up in New Jersey with her late parents, Loren and Lucy Richards, her brother Paul; and graduated from Trenton State College in 1968 with a teaching degree in physical education. That same year, she married Jim Bade and moved to Fairfax, to follow a fulfilling teaching career at Falls Church High School. In pursuit of her passion for animals, Marcy and Jim moved to a horse farm in Haymarket, where she fed and cared for 40 horses between teaching classes at Marstellar Junior High in Manassas.
After the birth of sons, Jason and Jeffrey, Marcy and Jim lived in Warrenton and then Marshall, where she pursued a dream as owner and breeder of thoroughbred horses at their farm, Hectic Hill. Marcy spent many happy years teaching and coaching sports at Stonewall Middle School, foaling horses, raising her boys, and volunteering in the community.
Marcy retired after 34 years of teaching and coaching, but retained energetic spirit and gusto. She served as Postmaster, Jeffersonton Post Office for six years, taught as a substitute in the surrounding school districts, and managed a home-pet-sitting business. She held many positions in the Jefferson Ruritan Club, including President; and volunteered at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Warrenton, the Jeffersonton Community Center and the Little Fork Volunteer and Rescue Squad. She belonged to a monthly book club and drove horses in the Piedmont Driving Club. Marcy lived every day with a rare spirit that will long inspire all of those who knew her.
Surviving to cherish her memory are sons, Jason Bade and wife Darby and three grandchildren, Carter, Jackson and Ashby of Ellicott City, Md; Jeff Bade and fiancée Daniela of Alexandria; brother, Paul Richards of Dunellen, N.J.; her loving partner, Keith Johnson; her ex-husband, Jim Bade, and her sister-in-law, Susan Palmer and husband Barry Palmer of Moneta VA.
A Mass of Remembrance will take place at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 30, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Warrenton. A celebration of her life will follow at the Jeffersonton Community Center.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Jeffersonton Ruritan Foundation of which Marcy was a Director, or any of the listed above. Please check our facebook page,"jeffersonruritan", to enter your comments about Marcy in your life.
